I am unable to sell my house and am considering donating it to the humane society to raffle off. Taking the lead from a couple out east ( http://www.sanmarraffle.com ) they will get slightly under market value for their house and the charity stands to make over $150K. MD law governed these: 1)only a non-profit can raffle a property 2) a realtor cannot profit from such 3) must declare min and max number of tickets sold 4) may have one backup date for raffle in the event min number of tickets are not sold. Does anyone know if this would work for me in Colorado Springs?

You can do that if the agency conducting it is licensed for gaming or has an exemption etc. to do the raffle.
You normally cannot do it yourself. |

House raffles really could help us during these hard times.
House Raffles provide a WIN WIN WIN WIN solution for everyone involved. 1) The home owner sells their property for market value. 2) The Non - profit organization receives income from the raffle. 3) A lucky individual wins a home! 4) Plus the losing raffle ticket holder gets to feel really good about making all this possible. For anyone interested, there is now a book about home raffles titled, "The Home Raffle Book" and is located at www.thehomerafflebook.com. It's a must read for anyone conducting or participating in a home raffle and it includes a sample business plan.

Here are some raffle ideas for raising money for your group. A good raffle where the tickets are properly priced and well promoted can easily out fundraise any fundraising product.
As with any event, you have to promote it and you have to sell lots of raffle tickets, so be sure to read the article on how to maximize your ticket sales. For step-by-step instructions on conducting one or several of these raffle events, visit FundraiserHelp.com.
