illegal conduct at a meeting

Hi, I am a member of a small sporting association that is incorporated in NSW, Australia. We had a Annual General Meeting recently with a proposal to change the constitution.

Under statutory law a special resolution needs to be motioned in order to change any rules and you need 75% of the vote to pass. This was not done and was pointed out at the meeting but was overruled by the president/chairman. The vote went ahead with 66% in favour. The changes were then lodged with the authorities, which I feel is illegal.

The problem is that this is a small club and even though I feel strongly about what has happened, I think that any action taken by me will cause great harm to the club. So I am asking anyone out there if they have been in a similar situation and what, if anything, they did about it.
