Have world law sue em in China if you need to. Ask them for a flat fee.

What kind of company is it?

Might be hard to sue if Chinese but they do need to pay you for time there and your ticket back if they failed to get the visa as they promised and you now need to return.

Visa issue and costs -- Working for a college in China (tourist visa, Z visa)

I am currently in China working for a college. I was told prior to coming here that I should come on a tourist visa and they would apply for my Z visa here. This I was told was common practice in this area of China so I did.
Since being here there have just been problem after problem and I am worn out trying to solve matters with them.
Now they have informed me that I need to return to Ireland and get the Z visa as it was not approved here and say they are willing to pay 50-60% of the cost. This is not something I would be able to financially cover so I want them to give me an option of not returning and paying me compensation for the expense I will have to cover and for leaving me unemployed. They will not give me any answer on this option.
My visa expires at the end of this month and for the last week I was told I need to go home to get the visa sorted so I have booked a flight and today they say that I may be able to just extent my tourist visa and re-apply for the z visa but I have my flight now and they won't cover that cost.
They took a risk I have found out as they had been aware of the local regulations that I should have 5 years experience but I have just 3.5 years experience which they were also aware of and this is the reason it was rejected. So I feel this is not my fault and I should be entitled to some form of compensation.
All I wish for is to be paid till the end of term (31st Jan) as I will do all examinations prior to leaving so the students will not lose out. I am also entitled to my bonus anyway for working here for a term.
Can you please give me some idea of where I stand and if it is worth my while asking for this or should I just leave and cover all costs myself?
