Unregistered Just got a ticket for going 23mph in a 15 zone in Glendale (near Phoenix), Arizona. That cop was an ass. He and I disagreed where the school zone ended. He is wrong. I've gone to traffic school and I know it ends after the crosswalk. He claims it ends at the next speed limit sign 3 blocks away. I hope he crashes into his damn sign.

IF you teach your son or any child to stand up for their rights, it's never a bad thing.

You will be the first to cry foul when YOUR kid gets hit by some one ,by your definition, not speeding. Go ahead trip the officer up.

Re: How we beat a Georgia speeding in school zone ticket

Same here it was 328 pm the officer was park at a church across from the school. I was clock at doing 43 in a 25 mph normaly its 40 mph but the light was not flashing. and were he was parked he could not see either sign so he wrote me a ticket. I then got out and took pictures of the scene and use my iphone to do video of the lights not flashing and he is still there with his laser gun also asked if his laser has a time stamp he said no. Tried to tell him the lights are not flashing but he took off while i was behind him doing 40 myself dont how fast he was going.

So yeah I will fight that one.

How we beat a Georgia speeding in school zone ticket

The same thing happened to me in Alpharetta GA a couple of weeks ago. I got a speeding ticket for going 38 mph in a normal 40 mph zone. The officer pulled me over at 2:02PM in a school zone where the mph dropped to 25 at 2:00PM. As I rounded the curve and went down the hill, I saw two cops sitting there. I said to myself, I am so gald that I was not speeding (over 40mph).

I had no idea I was speeding. When he pulled me over, I thought it was about something else because I was traveling under the 40mph speed limit. He said did you not see the school zone light flashing and I told him no because I honestly did not see it. I really do not think it was on.

I have a court date next week and I have not paid my fine yet. I want to plead not guilty but don't really want to miss two days of work either. Any suggestions. If I plead guilty and pay, will my insurance go up? Any ideas or help on this matter would be appreciated.

Thanks

Re: How we beat a Georgia speeding in school zone ticket

I just received my second ticket ever (last one 20+ years ago) in Alpharetta, GA going 40 in a 25 school zone - 5 minutes after the school zone went into effect at 2:00 pm, during the second week of school (before the school zone time, the speed limit is 40). I don't typically travel this road and honestly didn't see any signs indicating a school zone. Two officers were standing outside their cars (I'm not sure where their cars were) on the side of an intersection at the bottom of a hill using lasar to catch speeders as they came over the hill. They had several cars pulled over on each side when they pulled me, so I actually thought I was being stopped for a routine license/insurance check. He wrote on the ticket there were flashing lights and signs posted, but I didn't actually see them (I need to go back and check). No buses or kids were anywhere around, and I've searched on the internet and found that the nearby school doesn't get out until 2:15.

How much will this ticket cost me, and will it cause my insurance to go up? Since this is my first ticket in 20 years, should I be concerned about points? Can I just pay this, or do I have to appear in court?

Thank you for the information.
