Default Pine cone damage

I have a rental house in California with a large pine tree on the property. Recently, a pine cone fell and damaged the neighbors' car (sunroof). There are numerous posts regarding limbs, healthy/unhealthy trees, etc. and who's liable but nothing on pine cones. I don't live in the area of the rental but I assume the cones are those "green grenades" that haven't opened yet. Obviosly, the neighbors are welcome to trim, without damaging, any part of the tree that hangs over their property, but am I liable for damage caused by the pine cones?

Thank you.

Default Re: Pine cone damage

You are not liable. They need to have trimmed back if they had concerns.
