stressed out over neighbor

Southern California - My neighbor for the last 10 years, has been obsessed with our tree leaves falling into his yard. He has mercilessly trimmed our trees into looking like one sided ridiculous sticks just for the sake of a few leaves. My wife has become a nervous wreck due to their last invasion of ruining our palm tree because the branches hung over their "imaginary wall" 20' high not touching their house!~!
They are and have truely ruined the quite enjoyment of my property.
I intend on filing a civil suit for damages. What is your recommendation?

He can trim back to the property line...best to to just let him do that and/or put up a wall or shrubs on your side so you don't have to see him.
