Unhappy Neighbor wanting to remove all boundry trees

Greetings,
I am in North Carolina and have 10 or so long leaf pine trees along a boundry which overhand the neighbor's lawn. The neighbor has a brick wall by the way. The neighbor wants all of the trees cleared out and is bullying my sister who is the owner. He complains about the yard debris, blocking of sunlight and root damage to his wall from at least one tree..

My sister offered to allow two trees to be removed in the past, but the owner has not done so and has instead come back months later to try to bully her into having the trees completely removed. He said that he will pay for them all.

We do not want to remove many of the trees because it affects the character of our yard, but we do not know the legal situation of all of this. Incidentally he's an ex NFL player and has a very abrasive attitude! Any help would be greatly apreciated

Try to work out any problem but you don't have to remove anything that is on your property.

If he argues that real damage is occurring he can got o court and seek an order resolving the situation but he will not likely get any help from the court unless there is some extreme problem occurring from the trees.

Thanks for the response. We will try but he has a bad attitude and my mother will become a brick wall to anything he demands if he continues. I haven't found any ordinances about trees/boundaries/neighbors from the city ordinance page.. it has mostly municipal stuff.. What I'm mostly concerned about is potential costs from encroaching roots/yard debris cleanup/branch trimming/damage. The trees are wild, not planted, and have been there for many decades. To my understanding, the cost is on him to do the preventative maintainance on his side of the fence, so to speak..

Is there any benefit to getting a certified arborist inspector to survey the trees? Can he provide any sort of standard document that mitigates liability (I.E. healthy tree/act of god)
