Confused 1 sprinkler system on 2 different properties

We live in central Fla., and bought this house in 8/05. It had been divided from another piece of property, which is owned by another person, who bought at the same time we did. The previous owner put in a sprinkler system, to water all the properties. We didn't know at the time of sale that this was the case. The main system is on my property. We now want to stop watering the other property. Who, if anyone, should be liable for not telling us about the sprinkler system watering all of this land?? ie: title insurance company, previous owners, etc... And, is there a statue of limitations?? We recently had a fallen out with the neighbors, and to go on their property to disconnect it on our own would be impossible, not to mention, the expense.. If your confused, you should be on my end
