I've been living in a second floor apartment for 5 months now - and the people downstairs CONSTANTLY have their television or music or video games (it's so loud I'm not quite sure what it is anymore) SO LOUD that I can barely concentrate. Their music is always at a ridiculous volume, so much so that my bedroom floor vibrates and I can't even hear my own music...even with headphones on. Watching TV is also futile, because I can hear their music over my television.
I've gone the combatant route (stomping, dropping my bedframe on the floor, pointing loud speakers at the floor)...and they just crank it up to 11. I've also written a note which explained that me and my roommates are college students who use this space to study, sleep and relax - which can't be done with their obnoxious music. In response, we received a note telling us to "stop banging the floor with broomstick" - we don't even own a broom, and whatever banging they hear is in response to their out of control noise. My bedroom seems to be right above whatever loud sound system they have, so unfortunately it seems I'm the only one that ever hears it. Is there ANYTHING I can do?? My next course of action is telling the landlord the next time I see him...or calling the police to report a noise violation (or are there certain times of day where those are applicable?)...stomping on the floor used to do the trick, but now it seems they are immune to it. ---Just wants some peace and quiet!
