Default calls to neighbors

This is a complicated question, because it questions a lawyers practice. I have a lawyer who has been trying to reach me regarding a past debt, Anyway this lawyer has resorted to calling family members and neighbors trying to reach me. Is this legal??? I would think that is a violation of privacy or rights or something. It is none of anyone\'s business if a lawyer is trying to reach me.
