I have recently gone through the naturalization process. My name was wrongly changed during this process (my last name becomes my husband's last name, and my first name becomes my original last name, and my original first name is gone). Now, the naturalization certificate contains a wrong name. Do I need to file a name change request with the court in order to change my name back to my original name ? All my other documents have the right name, only the naturalization certificate has the wrong name.

You can write them and ask them to correct the document but if they will not do so you may have to get a judge to order it done, that is correct.
Frankly you may want to have immigration counsel briefly review your documents as a first step. |

judg4,
Thanks for your reply. Is immigration counsel a government department ? Would you have their contact ? Thanks. |

I think he meant a lawyer to review the details--

I live in california I have a age difference of 14 years between my old date of birth and now the corrected everyone (DMV, US Passport, Court Order, Sworn Avadavits) to show the correct date of birth and I got paid retroactive retirement benifits but as soon as went and applied for my wife and son I received a letter saying it was incorrect. I have waited a year for the Naturalization certificate to come show up with the correct date of birth but so far have recieved gone in 3 times everytime I get told it is in processing and they are awaiting the A-File. Now they claim they want the Naturalization Certicate and they will pay me. I want to know How long does it take for a Certicate to come?

It can be about this long but you may want to have legal counsel inquire for you as well. There unfortunately are sometimes lost items or unexplained delays.

My wife went through the formal naturalization ceremony this week. Her legal last name as changed on our marriage certificate is my last name. While filling out the form to go in to the naturalization ceremony she mistakenly used her maiden name on the form, which resulted in her maiden name being on the naturalization certificate. The naturalization certificate does not have her legal last name, it has her maiden name on it. Is there any reason whatsoever to have this naturalization certificate changed?
