I am a US citizen living in China and married to a Chinese national and we will have baby in August. We are also allowed to choose if we want the baby to hold an American or Chinese passport which could be of some relevance later. In the past I have been a resident of Minnesota where I owe around $20,000 for back child support. I want to get rid of my MN residency and either become a resident of another state or a permanent resident of China. In the past they asked me to pay a lot of money to get my passport and I am worried that because of my debt to MN they will not renew my passport till I pay the balance. I have no intention of doing so because I believe my rights as an American citizen are not being recognized and find there laws unjust and unfair toward non-custodial fathers. Is there anything I can do about this? What is my best course of action? Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time in advance.

How can you not support your child financially?? and you blame the state of Minnesota? You are pathetic. i pray your child (ren) never read you post on why you won't pay child support because it's total bs and they will never believe you. Disargeeing with the law doesn't negate your responsibility as a father. stay in china, you bastard.

You will not be able to renew your US passport when it expires with those amounts past due--just FYI.
So you will not be able to travel without a passport from some other country. Not always easy to arrange. |
