Naturalization after 40 yrs..

I have been a green card holder for 40 years now. I applied for naturalization like 21 yrs ago but never went for my complete processing. But i had paid the fees and had a reciept. At that time I went to get passport for my US citizen kids and since my naturalization process was under process I applied for mine too. The guy at the office asked me for a proof that i had applied for naturalization and I gave him the reciept and they issued me a pass port. Now I want to get married and I found out that my citizenship was not completed and I will have to file again. Now I went to my immigration office and submitted my passsport back. My question is would this go against me now when I apply for my citizenship. I have no criminal records ?

I don't think so...it will be just as if you had never done anything.

But it might be wise to review your entire details with immigration counsel before you apply again.

This is odd....I did know one can apply for a passport with just a receipt that you applied for Naturalization...that must be in the 60s.
