Hello,
Im a naturalized american citizen since 2002, and recently (March) I married my husband who is french. I want to live in France for an extended period of time and I will have a french resident card soon, but I want to know if I can lose my US Citizenship for living outside the US for a long period of time? I also want to know if there is a form I need to file to notify/ask for permission to US? Thanks |

You will lose citizenship if you were to join the french army or some spy agency against the USA. You are in NO danger of losing your citizenship BUT I will advice you file your income tax return while overseas to show your commitment to the United States . Travelling back will be less of a hassle if you keep your US Passport current , if you don't have one yet then apply at the US Embassy or Consulate in France.
