Hey, well, here's my problem. I went to an embassy overseas to renew my passport today, and for some reason, i was told that they had to hold my passport cos i owed the government money. Problem is, i dont think i do. Anyway, my question is that can a citizen born in the states have his citizenship revoked? i dont know whats going on, but i wanna prepare for the worst.

Normally no--but they can withhold passports etc. until you pay child support or certain other gov. debts.

In the first case you should take the demand note from the overseas embassy and have a look at the outstanding shown against you. If you think dues are unwarranted simply write them a protest and see what they say.
Not to talk of the United States, no country in the world can strip off citizenship from a born citizen. |
