Default US citizenship with criminal record?

I am a software proffessional having worked for 14 years in USA and holding a green card.I have always been a very law abiding individual, holding a very good respectable job and earning a good income, being a good source of revenue for the country.Untill this year I had absolutely nothing on my record to show any lack of morality on my part, however this year, my wife and I were going through a very stressful period, in which an argument between us got elevated in which i happened to push her and she filed for domestic violence, I pleaded guilty and ended up with a criminal record and DVIP class for an year, I recieved my order for citizenship interveiw last week, my lawyer advised me that with a criminal record it would be impossible for me to attain US citizenship and also that i would get deported. Is there any means by which a person like me who upto this event had led an ideal life with good moral conduct and character, able to apply and obtain for citizenship? Are there any laws which can help me to protect my rights to apply and gain citizenship? have there been cases wherein people with domestic violence or any criminal record been granted citizenship? If i hire a good immigration attorney, are there any means by which I can approach the judicial system to help me attain citzenship? please help me, I have allways been lawabiding and had absolutely no trouble with the law so far., and also I have never ever been physically violent with anyone or my wife, the incident which sparked off the whole thing was a very mnor one and my wife regrets her hasty actions as she herself undertsands that I had absolutely no intention of getting physical in our quarrel, this has never hapenned before, and i THOROUGHLY regret my actions and shall never ever repeat it.I am prepared to do any kind of community service or do anything to prove my regret, please do help me, any kind of advice wiuld be much appreciated, special;ly as I have a 4 month old baby boy who is a natural born US citizen and who is my whole world, I dont wish to deny him the right to be brought up in this great country wherein he could get a good education and become a good citizen, pl help, thanks ever so much.

Thumbs Up Re: US citizenship with criminal record?

Best advice.
Talk to a Lawyer. (a very good sincere lawayer)
If you are in the philladelphia area talk to
Tahir Mella Law 215-640-9770
his office is 3 blocks from the philly USCIS office.
From my understanding, he used to work for USCIS.
He is of Thai origin (Well American now). But he is good at what he does.

Please when you are in an argument with your wife.... always remember it is
not that serious. Calm down take a walk. Sit her down and discuss it in a respectful and calm manner.Even if you dont aggree, still lether know you care for her. (I am married and i have been there too.)

Default Re: US citizenship with criminal record?

I would hire a pit bill lawyer and rip her apart.

The court system is brutal so prepare to annihilate her!

Just my humble opinion.

EEK! Re: US citizenship with criminal record?

TAHIR MELLA! YOU HAVE GOT TO BE KIDDING ME. HE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT IMMIGRATION. HE WILL TALK A BIG GAME TAKE ALOT OF MONEY AND IN THE END YOUR SPOUSE GETS DEPORTED BECAUSE OF HIS NEGLIGENCE. PLEASE TRUST ME STAY AWAY FROM HIM. FOR GOD'S SAKE HE FILED IMPORTANT DOCUMENTS LATE, LOST PAPERS BECAUSE HIS OFFICE WAS MOVING AND NEVER KNEW THERE WAS AN ORDER FOR MY SPOUSES DEPORTATION. HOW MUCH MORE INCOMPETENT CAN YOU GET.
