Help..Stranger has mortgage on my house!!

We were contacted in Feb. 2006 by a company that said it would help us refinance our home, pay off creditors, and improve our credit rating. After being jerked around by these people for 2 months, all the while saying we would close in less than 10 days, we were even further behind with our mortgage. Then they hit us at closing with a $25,000 "consultation fee". Facing certain foreclosure, we felt we had no choice but to go ahead. The creditors have NOT all been paid and it has now been confirmed that another person ( the father-in-law of the man that owns the credit repair company) has a mortgage on MY house in HIS name!! What can I do?? I want to have this man prosecuted and sent to jail for FRAUD but I don't know how to go about it. HELP!!! PLEASE!!

Based on what you say here, you could file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior... You may also report them to your state attorney general's office.
