mortgage license?
I am in the process of getting a mortgage from the house that we just got transfered to us from my deceased grandparents. The lawyer told us that we needed to sign papers and we needed to go to the courts and get a license to have a mortgage. Is this true...please explain, everyone I've talked to never heard of such a thing.

He may mean something else--we are not sure any license is required; but there could be e.g. probate or other issues; ask him to explain exactly what he means, in writing preferably.
