Question foreclosure

We are in the process of foreclosure with a sell date of 6/4/2008. All the paperwork was filed by the attorney handling the sale - I searched county records (Maricopa, Arizona) and the Notice of Trustee Sale is not on file with the county. Can the sale be stopped and/or stalled even if this is just a clerical error on the part of the County? What are my options?
