Exclamation Has Microsoft entered the lottery bidniss?

For the benefit of future visitors - no, you didn't win the Microsoft lottery.

Do NOT contact these people to claim your prize.

"Microsoft" writes in an email to a spam trap.

And I answer.

Default What is Microsoft doing to help stop lottery fraud?

In October 2008, Microsoft announced an alliance with other companies whose brands and services are abused by lottery fraud. The purpose of the alliance is to gather and analyze lottery fraud data from people across the world and provide global law enforcement agencies with the information they need to help prosecute fraud.

Lottery fraud uses vulnerabilities in human nature, not software code, to trick victims. These criminals are resourceful, highly skilled, creative, and innovative in their deceptions. Many victims of lottery frauds are well-educated professionals.

The objectives of the alliance are:

• To raise public awareness of advanced fee fraud and lottery fraud in order to help prevent them.

• To gather and refine information about the scale and prevalence of lottery fraud.

• To conduct a comprehensive analysis of Internet lottery frauds from police reports provided by victims.

• To collate copies of police reports, conduct analysis and initial investigations to identify patterns and trends, such as evidence that links different lottery fraud campaigns to the same person or group of people. The refined data will be returned to the relevant law enforcement agencies, which will determine the appropriate next legal steps.

Default Re: fraud of lottery

There is no--I repeat NO lottery associated with anyones e-mail---they just do not have any such thing...........They always say taxes and courier fees are not allowed to be deducted from winnings.......WHY----because there is NO winnings........They solicite thru e-mails to use the lottery to get fees and taxes and after they receive the funds you never hear from them again--I have rec. many, many e-mails about this same thing and well as the nigeria letters about wanting to use YOUR bank acc. to transfere funds to you---but instead they clean out the acc. if it holds any money----some people have actually rec. checks from the lottery thing but have been counterfeit or stolen-/Fake and when you deposit the check it may and probably will post to your acc. and then after you spend some of the money you find out LATER that it was fake/counterfeit/stolen and then you owe your bank all this money back that you don't have and then you are in legal trouble.....Warning stay away from these lottery winnings and from all the different letters wanting to deposit several milliom$$ into your account---they have no money but want yours....and your acc. can also give them access to your personal information and can create another YOU and use it to commit crimes in the financial world............THINK
