Default Please give me some advice. -Online scam

Hello everyone.

A friend recently came to me with this issue.

He had met this girl online on a dating site. (We are from Singapore and she is in Australia). He had sent her $3000 AU to fly her to SG. She is 19 and he is 34. She wasnt able to make it as there were a few legal issues on her side. I suspected this to be a scam from the start but he wouldnt take my advice. So from June this year uptil about now, he has sent her over $30,000 SGD and put himself in alot of debt for her. He is unable to pay his phone bills and has had his credit cards cancelled. Here are some of the excuses she made up to extract money from him.

Bracketed numbers are the money he sent her.
I got arrested for not attending court, they sent a letter to my old residental address and I need money for bail. ($5000)

I got stopped at the airport due to not carrying enough cash on me. ($2000)

I got arrested at the airport for carrying too much sex toys and lingerie. They suspect me of selling my body over seas ($5000)

I need money to fly over to SG, as the first 3 times the money were forfeited because they wouldnt let me travel ($3000, $2000, $1750)

There were many more reasons which I couldnt remember. I don't know if this girl is being genuine, but Im doubting her excuses very much.

So right now, she is asking him for money for legal fees, because she is apparently 'Sueing the police for detaining her unfairly and causing her stress'
I've told my friend many times not to reply to her demands and seek legal advice. But he will not listen.

My question is, is my friend able to sue her? Even though she is in Australia?

Holy smokes!! Your friend must be blind from infatuation.

This is an obvious, dirty scam and you can probably find other various examples of this treachery if you mess around with google long enough.

I'm not entirely sure if you can go about suing a scammer from Australia, but it sounds like the very first thing you need to do is knock some sense into your ' friend. ' Try to find some other examples online and then provide him with the links.

firstly- you need to find someone else for your friend! Maybe you can show him what it's like to find someone to love in the real world. Then theres a less chance of getting scamed as he can build a relation ship in person. Secondly what's done is done you can try sueing and whatever if it's possible. It must be hard for your friend because he must be in love with this girl.
but take him out, he's settling for second best, he needs a girl that doesn't love him for his money!
