Possession of Alcohol: Should I hire a lawyer and how should I plead?
I was given a ticket back in June 2007 for possession of alcohol on state property. I was not drinking. I later misplaced my ticket and contacted the court in July to pay it off. The court clerk informed me that no record existed. They told me not to worry. Now (2/25/08) I have received a court summons on 4/29/08 on account of the incident. Should I hire a lawyer? How should I plead?

You should get a lawyer, and never rely on a simple phone call without some confirmation to ensure the status of the case... cases do not just go away.
