We have been receiving calls for my husband's ex-wife from a bill collector. They are leaving messages several times a day on our answering machine, asking for her by her 2nd marriage's last name. My husband has been divorced from her for almost 17 years and she has not had that phone number for almost 18 years. My husband called the collection agency last night and was told by them that she gave our phone number as her's almost three years ago. My Mother-in-law has also gotten bill collection calls for his ex-wife on her answering machine too.
Do we have any legal rights to stop her from doing what she has? It is making us wonder what other things she may have done. This is a woman who has repeatedly broken laws and been sued by others several times. We would like to see her pay for what she has done. Thank you. |

My problem is not with the bill collection agency. They were only calling the phone number they were given. My problem is with my husband's ex-wife of 17 years giving out our phone number for her bills.
