I am volunteering in South Africa and am unsure of the applicable laws about my situation. I work through SASTS a volunteer organisation and i have payed them a great deal of money ~1900 US plus my airfare to volunteer here. THe understanding is that they give me 8 weeks of a project with food lodging and work included, and i travel for 3 weeks. They neglected to realise that school ends on the 30th nov. Therefore have no placement for me for 19 days. At this point NOTHING has been done. It looks like i will be paying for an extra 19 days of food, lodging and activities. What can i do? Am i entitled to compensation? How much and how do i go about doing it. There are approximately 10-15 others in my same situation and i want legal advice so i dont get screwed over because i had no knowledge of my rights. Please inform me what i am legaly allowed to do. Thank you..

You could ask for reimbursement if they have created the problem and you had signed agreements. Normaly something coud be worked out in this type of situation if they are a reputable group.
