Co-Signer

My aunt co-signed for the past 6 years I have been the sole payee of the car- Yesterday I noticed that my car was missing I called the Company that holds the title to my car to see if they had came and picked it up- They stated that no they had not--the only time they take a car is if you are 6 months behind. They suggested that I call the police--which I did and filed my car as stolen--The officer stated that if I found the car to call the police and do not take the car on my own
TLater that night I learned that my aunt had take my car-I called the police in order to get my car back--He basically said that it was o.k. for her to come and take the car from me-but I could not go and take my car back- She is the co-signer--I was 2 months behind and was going to make a payment plus late fees in 2 weeks..As I stated I have been making the payments for the car--did she have the right to take my car--
Please help I have to have my car to go back and forth to work.

She claims that they were threatening to come and take the car--but when I called they stated " they only take cars that are 6 months behind" . She stated that she told the finance comapny. " If I pay this she wanted a key made"--So she went to the dealership and had a key made--That I owe her ($700) How? If the car payment was $400 then that was an awful expensive key?
As I stated I have been making the payments for the car--did she have the right to take my car--?
Please help I have to have my car to go back and forth to work.
Both our names are on the loan papers and registration--As I stated I have been th sole payee all this time except for the two payments that she made. She wants my car because hers is older and falling apart, she has a daughter that just got her license. I have taken very good care of my car. Today I was told that there was nothing to stop me from taking back my car--So I did- I hid the car and placed a steering wheel/brake pedal lock on it.

She called family members and said that if I do not have that car back in 2 days that she will have the finance company to come and get it--Can she do tthis? My car is almost paid for---She wants my car for herself ---

She can act to protect her credit. She cannot unreasonably profit from this or keep the car--but she can take it and arrange to sell it if you are not paying.

But I have been paying--I called gmac to find out why I had not gotten a paymemt booklet--She had the address on the account changed to her address- Those booklets have been coming to my house since 2004-
And she changed them- No it is not about her credit because it was then she would not of had the address changed on the payment booklet--She wants to take My car---
