I was molested and now being threatened

I was molested by my cousin when I was around 7 yrs old, and he was 13. I
never revealed this to anyone until I told a therapist and my wife last
month. I mailed a letter to my cousin informing him that I wanted him to
contact me to discuss this; otherwise, I would tell our family what he had
done to me. He had an attorney send me a response stating that any further attempts to libel or slander his client would result in legal action. I
want to know what my rights are. I was molested by him (albeit 30 years ago). I hid this secret out of my shame - now I know this is his secret, not mine. I believe he is only attempting to intimidate me, and deter me. Your advice, please.

It would be hard for you to prosecute or take action now. But also frankly there is not much he can do to you if you bring the issue forth. Those threats of his are baseless.

What do you hope to accomplish after all this time...

I am not looking to seek any type of legal action. He was a juvenile at the time. I've carried this guilt and pain with me for 30 years. I want him to face me - he can say he is sorry or even deny it, but he can't continue to pretend he did nothing.

Also, a relative "allegedly" grabbed his wife's breast and made lewd comments. My cousin did nothing. My aunt told me, and then said that my cousin didn't want anyone to know about it. Honestly, it angered me that he did not protect his wife and family -- the relative still visits their house.

I was mad that he tried to hide behind a letter from an attorney.
