I currently have received a demand for payment notice from an attorney collecting a debt from a hospital bill from a surgury my young daughter had 3 1/2 years ago. Nearly 3 years ago I had to go to court for this issue and had arranged a stipulation payment plan. Since Dec. 06, I lost my job and had to get a new one which pays less money, My husband got cancer,had it removed and has had radiation, all of which costs money including the time he could not work. Shorter story, I have not been able to pay this stipulation for several months. The total due is 10,950. My arrangement was to pay $300/month. Is there anything that I can do to reinstate a payment plan? I have until 9/14 to pay or, I assume, contact the lawyer. What should my approach be, as I do not have close to that kind of money and at least $4000 in bills per month? HELP, I can start payments again and have every intention on making good on this debt, but I can only afford to pay so much. I'd appreciate greatly if anyone could give me advice on what my best options are. Thank you Greatly

It is up to them to agree. Let them know you will start again. They may fear you will go bankrupt or take other action and that would give them nothing so you do have some negotiating room.
