private loan matters

I loaned a personal friend 10's of thousands of dollars a few years ago and it now appears she's not going to make good on her end of the bargain...

I did not require her to sign any contract, but I do have records of her monthly payments for a year or so... I also have bank transfers reflecting the transaction providing her $$ from my account to hers...

Do I have any recourse?

If I don't have any recourse, do I have any options to (at the very least) make her life uncomfortable for the fact she hasn't paid me back? e.g. drop a line to the IRS pointing out the additional unclaimed income she received that year, thus provoking and audit?

This is a U.S. based problem...

You absolutely can sue--it is still a binding obligation. But do so asap so you dont lose any rights or have the statute of limitations apply and bar you.

I'm coming up close on the statue of limitations in my state, a lawsuit may very well be the last card I have left to play... if that even has enough teeth left in it to get the job done.
