In 1990 18 years ago my father died and was buried in a cemetery right next to a Military memorial. I've compared the pictures from 1990 and 2007 and I can see that my Daddy was dug up and moved 6 to 8 feet away from where he was and In 1994 someone else was put exactly where he was.
Can the cemetery do that? According to the laws permanent resting placeing should not be dug up unless the cemetery is relocating? They moved him and placed someone else there 4 years later. |

That is very odd. Ask them to explain in writing as a first step.

I will ask for an explaination in writing as you suggested. But can they do that? I called today to inquire and they asked me to send the pictures because the current caretaker said that he shouldn't have been moved.
You see recently my Mother passed and I buried her in the same cemetery close to him and that's how I noticed that he had been moved from his original spot. What kind of explaination can they give me, it just so happens that the person who took my Fathers place is a Colonal in rank and my dad was a Sergeant. That shouldn't make any difference. In in death it should be first come first serve right? |

There is no real reason except by necessity if there was ground problem or some such issue.

I received a letter from the cemetery stating they couldn't find anything in the files to explain why they moved my Daddy from his original resting place. The cemetery manager said his theory is that in 1986 a plot was purchased pre need and the contract supposedly says next to the veteran memorial. In 1989 my father passed and I purchased a plot and I hand picked the spot right next to the veteran memorial. On my contract it says near flag pole which is at the veteran memorial.
The cemetery also stated in there letter that it looks like they accidentally put my Father in a spot that was prepurchased in 1986. So in 1994 they dug him up and moved him in a different spot right next to his original spot and put someone else where he was. I was never notified. How do I know if my Father is really in the grave that they said he is in now? In the letter the cemetery manager that was not working at the cemetery in 1990 said he can understand why I was shocked. I sent them copies of pictures from 1990 and 2007 that's how I found out that he was moved. Do I have grounds for legal actions? |

It would seem so; they really are not allowed to do that!
