Default Dorm Room Searches

I was recently subjected to a "serch" of my room by the Safty and Secrity office at my school. I am aware that schools are allowed to do so. But I was wondering if there were any regulations regarding sanitaion and questioning.

The man the searched my room was wearing a pair of winter gloves and moved around all of my clothes in my dresser, he even picked up my underwear, while asking if I was hiding any drugs.

The thing that gets me is the fact that he went through my trash, where I had disgarded several napkins containing blood, as well as other non-sanitarty items. Then the question arose to me, how many other trash cans had he gone through with the same gloves. What if someone had a virus, or STD and now he is tuching all of my things contaminating them.

Please someone tell me there are regulations and laws he broke.

The campus I am at is in North Miami, FL., and the school is a private university.

My concern is not with the lgality of the search, but more to do with sanitation codes I guess.

WIth me being on the second floor I am sure the male who searched my room and went through my trash used the same gloves in other room. I am HIT+ and I did have used condoms in my trash.

And that was supposed to read "HIV+"

I am concerned with the spread of viruses and such.

You could object to his superiors if you see a sanitary issue or violation--or even sue if somehow damages occurred.

In reference to this reply...I was told that I might be able to sue on the basis of liable interest.

What can anyone tell me about this?
