Hi. I broke up with my boyfriend a couple years ago. We had just decided to end the relationship when i found out i was pregnant. I during the separation period i got involved with another guy. My boyfriend came back in the picture and we had sex. the thing is i have always told him that the child is not his. but i wasn't sure. He wanted it anyway and so he decided to take care of it even if it wasn't. We still broke up and he was taking care of the child. However we don't get along, i have been very creative in trying to avoid him or conversation with him. but the thing, he started a rumor that i attacked him with a knife, and various other little stuff. Recently in a bid to end everything i went to child services and demanded that he pay an exorbitant sum, i know he would not give into my wish, he is now demanding a paternity test, which i told him a thousand times that the child wasn't his ( although i am not sure) however i am quite willing to do the test. He is now accusing me of being a *****, he sets out to deliberately try to embarrass me, i have never responded in kind but now i am tired off it all. Do i have grounds to sue for slander?

I wish to inform you that you may file a suit for defamation. In this regard, you may show in court that wrong, false and incorrect statements were made against you and this has caused damage to your reputation. Further, you may demand compensation in this regard for damage caused to your reputation.

Please disregard AFFA's post before you land yourself in an expensive cauldron of legal hot water. You went to child support services and told THEM that he was the father, correct? And then HE responded by demanding a paternity test? So...you lied, and now he's lying? Frankly you both need to grow up. Either way you have no damages, hence no case, and besides - calling you a rude name is NOT considered defamatory in the legal sense. |

Firstly, Prodoggie: glad to see you all around this board posting as "unregistered". Apparently you finally learned that one doesn't have to be "registered" in order to give sound advice. Congrats.
To the OP:, your question is too asinine to even give response to. Do you have ground for slander? Buckle your seat belt, s l u t puppy. You're about to be taken for the ride of your life. Here's to hoping you can never have children again. |

The beginning of your post has you admitting the child is probably his. You said you found out you were pregnant just as you decided to end the relationship. That indicates you were still together when you found out you were pregnant.
In a nutshell: no, you do not have a case for slander. It's laughable that you can't see how ridiculous even asking such a question is considering the details you provided here. You have given as good as you have gotten in this matter. You might remember that you lied to a governing agency and told them (even though you say you have repeatedly told this man he's NOT the father of your child) that the child is his. If anyone has a case for slander (among other more serious charges) it's the man in this saga. Have the paternity test. Then grow up and be a responsible parent to your kid. Affa, I know you won't come back to this thread to read this, but you really need to get a hobby you can actually get better at with time. Nearly 4,000 posts in less than a year and you are no better at this than when you started. Your posts would provide good entertainment if people in real problematic situations weren't hanging their hats on your ridiculous answers. |
