Confused Minor dating adult: 16 years old dating a 21 year old

My daughter is 16 years old and she's dating a 21 year old. I'm okay with this because I trust my daughter's decisions and I know they aren't having sex. So my question is whether it is legal for them to simply be dating and going out alone together?

There are no laws that define or restrict "dating" its when sex or sexual contact (not just physical) that the law applies

It is when she has no parents who either care or are smart enough to stop it. You might trust her, but why do you trust him? No 21 year old man who is a normally functional adult gets involved with a young teen girl.

You "know" they aren't having sex? How? Are you with them every second?

yes as long as they keep their hands to themselves and their pants on. otherwise her adult bf can face serious criminal charges that could land him on the sex offender list for the rest of his life.

I'm 16 years old dating a 21 year old. Not only is he a respectable and mature man, he's enterprising, ambitious, and has a great work ethic. Most guys my age are immature. Many people may think it's wrong, but we're happy. My family loves him, his family loves me! We've been together nearly a year! He's a southern gentleman..I don't see why it's frowned upon by so many people.
Best of luck to your daughter

When you reform every other adult in the country, the laws may change.

A 21-year old, of course, seems "mature" to a 16-year old. But when she's 25 she'll realize how truly immature he was.

Dating an older guy may seem glamorous, but that glamour is seen through naieve, inexperienced child's eyes. The parents who encouraged her to date at 15 need a good talking to. That is unless they don't mind having a knocked up teen at home and becoming a grandparent before she's 19.
