I am on Deferred probation for truency. I am 16 years old and. I have alot of friends that are over 17. My probation officer told me i could not socialize with any of them. I understand to some people it may be a little wierd that a 16 year old socializes with 20, 19 and 18 year olds, but does my probation officer have the right to tell me I cannot see them. I would understand if they were trouble makers but there not. None of them have been in trouble none of them are on probation, they come from nice familys like me. Please give me an answer..

He does unfortunately-- but if you feel it is unreasonable you can ask the judge to overrule those requirements / restrictions.

The point isn't whether they are nice enough people. The point is they are all of legal age and you are still a minor.
Yes, your probation officer can do this. Choose carefully whether these pals are worth getting in more legal trouble over. |

Yes, ma'am, he can. And it is not just to protect you, it is to protect them. Nineteen and twenty year old men and women, while still young and part of your group of friends, can get into a lot of legal trouble if things go wrong.
