Ex blackmailing me with nude pics

My ex recently called me threatening to send degrading, explicit pics, which he obtained during our relationship, to a third party. He stated that if I did not keep in contact with him, he would send the pictures. What legal action can I take, if any, to stop his harassment? I was a legal adult at the time, but there must be some rights that protect me from him. Please help!

That is illegal and if you wish you can report him to the police and file a criminal law complaint. That is indeed blackmail / extortion.

That is absolutely a crime--call the police or tell him if says it one more time you will do so.

If he took the pictures, they legally belong to him and he can do what he wants with them. If, however, he sends them to parties who are underage, he can be charged with a lewd act on a child.

His threats, on the other hand, are indicative of blackmail. You may wish to speak to law enforcement about that. They may or may not be able to help you there. If you can prove you took the pics and he stole them, that again is another issue.

i didn't know until a day that he told me, if i did not listen to him he will post up pictures and videos of me.
I'm ashamed to say that he took it when we were having a webcam session.
I'm not sure whether he really took the pictures and videos, but he is threatening me with them that he would want to post it in the internet. What can i do? I'm 19.
