question about what i should do

here is the story, i met a girl online dating site. she is from kansas and i am from seattle area. we talked for a month or so on phone email and we were planning on having a life together. she came to visit me to make sure we liked each other. she returned home and i broke it off with her. she begged my not to and i started going back out with her and about a week later i decide i just did not want to be with her and i sent her an email saying that i no longer wanted to be with her and please do not write or call me be cause she can become over bearing. so i guess she committed suicide and her parents started threatening me with a case of wrongful death and breach of contract. my question is can they do this what are my options or are they just trying to scare me. i just need some advice

That is a terrible story if that happened...but you are not responsible for that.

There is no way they can hold you liable unless some fraudulent or other activity was also going on. But not based on what you say here.
