I live in Saskatchewan, Canada.
I signed a 3 year contract for a home security system and was told by the salesperson that I would receive a 10-20% discount on my homeowners insurance once I submitted the appropriate paperwork. He did not promise an amount, but he did say I `would` receive a discount, not that I `might`. I just received notification from my insurance company saying that this security company does not qualify for a discount and therefore I am receiving nothing. If I had known this when I was talking to the salesperson I never would have signed the contract. I want out of my contract without penalty (there is a clause for penalty payment upon cancellation). Since I was lied to, I believe this by definition is a form of fraud (being lied to for financial gain). I have spoken to them once already and they have not been any help, made any apologies or helped to rectify the situation. I am still waiting to talk to someone else at the company, but in the meantime want to explore my options. What are my options now? What should I do? |
