hit a car with a golf ball
i was playing golf in a golf course and hit a car with a golf ball. the car was parked at a apt. which was adjacent to the golf course. i was wondering if the damage on the car was all my responsibility and i need to pay all or the car owner shares some resposibility for himself.
thank you |

I saw this below just FYI:
If you do not know who the person is that hit the ball into your car's back glass, then you can ask the golf course if their insurance will pay for your damages but typically this would be excluded. If you are in the position of not knowing who hit the golf ball into your vehicle and if the golf course will not take responsibility for the damages then you will likely need to put in a claim with your physical damages portion of your insurance policy. Comprehensive coverage will normally cover glass breakage. You will need to pay the deductible associated with this coverage (unless you are in a state that waives the deductible for glass replacement) but would be able to get your back glass repaired or replaced. |

Somebody hit my car with a golf ball and the golf court management told me that the would not pay for the damage , Its too sad that the person who did it didn't have the BALLS to show his face and pay what he did, just think how would you feel if their car was found with a big dent on his truck.

Golf courses assume no responsibility for such damages, as, if they did, they would be unable to afford the insurance such a policy. It's (or at least it should be) understood that the customer assumes the risk. Golf balls fly, and they are eventually going to hit something.
The person who knows the golf ball they hit a car with was, indeed, their ball, is responsible for damages. It is not the responsibility of the owner of the care to "share" expenses. Why should they? They did not cause the damage to their car, the person who hit the car with their golf ball did. It's really strange people don't understand they have to take accountability for their own actions. |

Looks nobody should be resposbile, whoever in or close to the golf course should assume the risk

The actions of any person are his/her responsibilities. It depends on state laws whether a player or golf course can be held legally responsible for a golf ball that leaves the property and strikes a vehicle, or lets say pedestrian, house, etc.

I believe that the golf court should be held responsible if the person who actually hit the ball cannot be found. They own the business that invites people to come onto their property and play golf, a game where the object is to hit a rock hard ball and send it flying through the air at vary high speeds. It's reasonable to assume that from time-to-time the ball is going to fly off the course and cause damage to the private properties of others living around or visiting the are area adjacent to the course. The owner's of the Golf course are making money off of people who come onto the course to play this game. The people that happen to be around the course at any given time should not have to bare the burden of tracking down the person that damaged their property and then getting them to admit it. If the owners of the course want to track down the person who caused the damage then that's perfectly okay but it shouldn't be the responsibility of an innocent bystander, The owner's of the club can tack on an addition charge to each round of golf to cover the insurance for covering this hazard. This seems to be common sense to from where I sit and why it's not the law is a mystery to me.
