Question indian giver?

i had a car reposessed in 2003. the creditor sent me a deficiency statement showing the sale of the car at auction and giving me a balance of zero. I contacted them to make sure this was right and they said no, that it was a mistake and that i needed to send them the statement back. I told them i would hold on to the statement, which i still have. they are trying to collect on this and it is on my credit report, do i have a leg to stand on with the statement they sent

Default Re: indian giver?

Yes if you believe it is accurate --but normally not if you know it is an error.
