Angry Is there any law in Ontario regarding sick days?

I was just wondering if there is any law in Ontario regarding sick days. I am working for a company now for 2 years and it was never mention during my 2 interviews and my hiring that this company has no sick days. They just go ahead and take it from your vacation days. So after being sick with pnemonuia and out for 4 days in Feb 2008 and then I took my vacacation during the summer, not all at once but days here & there. Then all of a sudden they spring it on me that I owe them 4 days which they will take off my vacation of 2009. If there is no sick days the compliance officer should have been monitoring what days I was taking for vacation and told me I had only 6 days instead of 10. Like this is just not fair for these people to just all of a sudden after 2 years to tell me there is no such thing as sick days and God forbid if you ever get sick, your vacation days will be taken from you.

Default Re: Is there any law in Ontario regarding sick days?

I would also love an answer to this. This is exactly what happens to me. We get 10 vacation days per year, and if we are sick or have to take a day off, they take it from our vacation days.

I had health issues and a minor surgery and had to take 5 days off and so I only got 1 week of vacation that year. Then I was actually sick for a few days, not in a row but over time, and I have already been docked 3 days from next year. So the year has not even started and what should be a new 10 days, I now only have 7 days. I think we are getting bent over in this case. I hope there is something that can be done.
