I was really unsure as to where to post this so here goes:
A couple of months ago my family lost a dog. We called police to get the word out, did fliers, etc. but got no results in our search. Recently, we received a call from a animal rescue stating someone had a dog that fit the description and that they would be checking the chip. However, said individual has come up with excuse after excuse not to bring the dog, has tried to get the rescue to get us to let her keep it, etc. Today, my mother called the police to ask about how we go about checking if this dog is our dog. The police told her the lost dog would 'probably fall' under 'abandoned property' and as such, there's nothing we can do. Is this accurate? Or is there some means by which we can get this matter resolved? |
