Default CVS drug store violated hippa law

VA
A while back I was on a drug called suboxone. There were a couple of reasons my Dr. and I decided on this drug.
Recently I had a reoccuring problem with my back, it caused a lot of pain. I had been on percocet for the pain and went for steroid epidural injections. This caused more pain for the first week or so. I call up my doctor and ask for a script of pain medicine and get told that cvs had called them and told them I was on suboxone, a drug for addiction.

Now they have broken the law, and ruined the relationship between me and my doctor and I am left in excruciating pain with no help from any where. What kind of attorney do I need to get?

The pharmacist in many situations can tell the doctor if the prescription is going to conflict with an incoming order.

Your doctor cannot share that info, but he can know what else you are taking.

Check with your state attorney general's office too for any local rules that may apply.

Thumbs Up Re: CVS drug store violated hippa law

Thanks for responding. I checked the laws on this and because of the type of medication it is, it comes with stricter laws. I have decided to contact an attorney in my area.
I will try to keep you informed.

if your no longer takeing it and its to keep you from becomeing addicted then you are in your rights to sue them!! they have no right to tell your dr what you are takeing or ahve taken because it leaves you in pain and possibly without a dr!!
