Help dont know what to do

I have been overseas for a few years and left my car to be fixed at a body shop, this is a 1980 Indy Pace car, I have a lot of money tied up in it. I came back to the States after almost a year of trying to get in touch with the body shop. I find his shop was closed and got information on where he moved it to then to findout it had been repoed {the shop}. I was told someone removed my car and I hunted them down only to find my car in pieces and rusted. The man who was to fix it has moved all over the USA and find out that his wife has a warrant out on her. What can I do, I paid him over 5000$ over the course of 3 years and my car is ruined. My husband is deployed and I have to deal with this myself I just dont know where to turn. I had a title etc. for it. There are other cars in his abandoned shop also that have been finished but they have no tile, me and another man checked on that. I am very angry and upset.
