One week ago this last tuesday I was sitting in my living room contemplating how to get resolution for my issues of trying weeks on weeks to follow my doctor's orders. That is when the blood clots started hitting my lungs. It continued though the day. I did not know what was happening. At the time I did not know that with each breath my life was in danger. That night I lay in bed trying to find a comfortable position without pain and which I could breath.
The next morning I went in for a completely unrelated previously scheduled appointment with my doctor. I explained what transpired the day and night before. The possibility of pulminary embolisems was discussed. After I was given an EKG which was normal, I was sent for Xrays and tests. Particularly one called a D-dimer. Since the test would not be ready for a while and my discomfort had subsided and apparently stable, I went home. That night I went to bed only to discover that when I laid down there was intense pain with every breath, eventually I could not breath. I finally decided to sleep in a chair. Needless to say, I didnt get much sleep, but the pain wasnt as bad and I could breath. The next morning I called the doctor to report the bad night and a fever. I was told to go to the ER. I packed a bag and had a neighbor drive me. The diagnosis after a CAT scan, blood clots in my lungs, any of which could have killed me or traveled to my brain. Monday I was allowed to return home with hypodermics I inject into my stomach 2 at a time, and blood thinners. I am pretty much in God's hands. With every twinge, the thought that it might be a clot breaking loose and it is my last breath. I beg you to help me. I am challenging a government that is not only willing but encouraged by job performance, special interests and political agendas to offer a total lack of compassion. That my death is the preferred outcome rather than deliver my rights to basic healthcare. If I knew when that clot would strike, I would go and sit in the local THHS office with a sign around my neck saying, "I am dead because you do such a poor job." If it saved one person from the mistreatment I have suffered, I will have made a difference. I ask you for no money, just your help to send a message to a government, "You must listen to the citizens you serve, each and everyone. If you would be so kind to Google using the advanced search option, this exact wording or phrase: (enter) Texas Medicaid next set Results per page: to 50. Langauge: English then click on search Somewhere on the result page you will find a listing containing the words "BAIT & SWITCH!!!" click on that listing and you demonstrate to a omnipitent government that freedom of speech cannot be ignored whether it is by the millions or a single voice. It is sad this is happening in so many states.
I find it conscionable, they witheld medication from you while you were in the hospital. What happened to "do no harm", it must have changed to save $$$ let'em croak!, then double bill'em! |

They have to held accountable.
Tomorrow is the last of my injections, so every day after improves my chances. I was told it can take up to 21 days for the clots to dissolve. 10 days away |

What do you see as the most blatant short coming in the system?

You might want to cal your sate legislator as well. We did so in a similar situation in Ohio and it did ultimately have some help.

To ans. the ?
The fact the system is so non-navigatable that you want to throw up your hands and walk away. Had it not been for the legitagations against the state it could be precieved as incompetence of a system. However given the history one can only conclude it is by design. As to State Rep. only way to get that attention is through VOTES! Last edited by Postman : 07-21-2008 at 12:50 PM. |
