Hope someone can enlighten me please
Maybe I went into too much personel details on my previous post. I like to be open . All I'd like to know is -how do I find out if there is a arrest warrent out for me in Richland County SC ? and if I enter USA in another county/State- what are the possibilities of me being arrested-or - turned back to UK. No matter how hard I try to find out the facts-- there seems to be a 'brick wall' in front of me .HOW can I resolve this situation ?. Please help- if possible. Regards , Pete Last edited by pete a : Jul 11th, 2008 at 01:33 PM. |

What kind of crime. If a felony you will be arrested at the airport if a warrant exists.
If a misd., avoid the state and you normally will be okay. The police will tell you or anybody if the warrant exists. A private detective can sometimes check and a lawyer can often arrange for you to surrender and learn of the warrant in advance, even if you don't eventually surrender. |

Thank you for your reply. If you read my previous post- 29 June 08 0n this thread- you will maybe see a few more details. I'm not sure what the charge was --but I asked a friend in usa to contact richland county sheriffs dept-- and she was told it was for stalking (I think) but seeing as I was 4000 miles away while all this was happening- I found it a bit silly. So- I emailed that sheriffs dept and asked what I could do to resolve the situation- in fact I sent 3 emails over a 6 month period- and I did not receive a single reply. Its hard for me to resolve things - when I am in uK--and I dare not go to USA -not knowing what to expect. regards Pete |

You may call them. They apparently are talking about it which gives you one advantage over what many depts would do, ie when they remain silent until you show up.
Or have a lawyer resolve for you. |

I think they mean call them directly and discuss it.
Some police departments will not talk to you until you arrive there, but if they are talking to you friends about it, they should discuss with you. |

Ok -thanks. Actually- I was Not Aware there was a warrant on file for me--until I was considering going to uSA for a vacation- and decided to delve around somewhat to make sure it was ok for me to do so. Then I saw 'on line' the local newspaper 'THE STATE' on March 26 2006, and there was a page headed- 'Outstanding arrest warrants' when I saw my name in the list-I was shocked. But on reflection- the 'lady' who instigated the charges-has done the same thing to previous men.. I dare not contact her/nor wish to. When my friend in USA called the sheriffs dept there last year-(maybe year before) she was asked for my birthdate before they would discuss the matter with her- and then she was told that I should surrender myself to the local 'judge' there and state my case . Being 4000 miles away does not help though . |

Well-, sincere thanks to the people who replied to my post--I appreciate your help.
I was hoping someone could shed some light on this matter - but -- I've just run out of steam . Looks like I wont be visiting USA again (as things stand). Nothing new has arisen unfortunately. Just seems unfair - that a 'lovers tiff' and a few words said in the heat of the moment - can affect a person entering another country for a simple vacation. Thanks again Pete |
