Homeowners Association Problem: Street Parking
Today I was at my home and a guy came to my household twice and told me to move a car that is legally parked in the street into the driveway because it was against the homeowners association. (Two years prior to this the same family called the Cops about us parking in the street and the Police Officer told them to stop bothering us and we were parked legally.) Then the wife of the family (homeowner's president) came back to my house for the third disturbance of the day with in an hour period, and told me to move the car and she wanted to speak with the homeowner (which is my father). I told her I was not going to get him but she was welcome to ring the doorbell herself and get him. I told her that the police had come before and told her that we were legally parked and that she needed to leave us alone. She then said no other cars are on the street etc etc..She then got outraged and became screaming that its a CIVL matter and she is going to fine him $25.00 a day that it parked there, and that we can call a laywer.
The first question is can we really be fined when the County allows street parking (keep in mind this is a neighborhood and not a main highway or road). The police have been here spoke to her and told her to leave us alone, and if she can fine us doesn't she have to mail something and actually have a written warning from the board? Please Advise.. In the meantime I will still be laughing at how crazy she began to act in front of many neighbors. |
