86'd! Fair or violation of my Civil Rights?
In Oct of 2007 I entered 1 of the 2 stores nearest to where I live (I live in the mountains near the Kings Canyon Nat'l Park in Calif.)Working there was a girl I and the Sheriff's have been looking for for almost 2 years. She burglarized my home and stole/forged some checks of mine. In order to avoid criminal charges she took off out of state. When I saw she was back in town I tried to contact the detective in charge but it was his day off and I was told to call the dispatch.A Sheriff went to talk to her at the store.Apparently she and the manager there were good friends. When I returned to the store 2 days later to get gas I was refused service and told I could not come back into the store again. I never once caused a scene (tho' I really did want to).I was later told by a friend that the manage didn't like the fact that the Sheriff talked with this girl at work. Was she really justified in refusing to serve me and 86ing me from the store? What is the most, or least I can, or should do? I'm finding it real hard to find a lawyer who will help me.Maybe if I were rich I could but at this time I do not have the finances to afford one. Are there still such a thing as Pro Bono? If so how do I go about in findng someone who will help me.I haven't contacted the owner of the store yet. Apparently he owns quite a few establishments in and around the Park so I would think it would be safe to say he is unaware of this. Aren't there certain steps(& a d@mn good reason) a person needs to take in order to refuse a patron service? Thx
