Confused Can I prove abandonment of Real property?

How can I get my ex husbands name off the home deed? After divorce he
left the real property abruptly. I moved back into the property and paid all mortgages/taxes/repairs and maintenance for over 17 years. Mortgage note I have now paid off. But his name is still on the deed. How can I get his name off the deed? How can I publicly/legally establish he abandoned the property?
