Default Becoming a Notary

Will the fact that I have a misdemeanor charge from 12 years ago for shoplifting prevent me from becoming a notary public? I am not the same person I was back then.......my life is totally different now. I have a good job and my employer is pressing me to become a notary public. I don't want them to ever know what happened.

It would be reason to deny you yes, but you can still try...
