“Media organizations through the Commonwealth have compared notes to conclude that Commodore Frank Bainimarama’s prime achievement as dictator of Fiji is to have attained the worst media reputation in the Commonwealth. With that comes the paralysis of basic human rights – free speech and free press – and the pursuit of policies so retrograde as to drag down his beautiful country socially and economically at huge price to its wonderful people,” the Commonwealth Journalists Association says.

What is the real purpose of the "Yellow Ribbon Programme"?

The YRP in Fiji derived from a symbol widely known in civilian life back in the 1970's as a sign a released convict requested from his wife or lover,....welcome to return home. . ... It is evident that the convicted felon served his time out first then returned home hoping to find a yellow ribbon tied on some tree however what is happening in Fiji is that the pepertrators of the coup getting are getting out of jail even before serving their sentences to the full and then using the Yellow Ribbon as justification. ...your thoughts please ?

Frank Bainimarama's Rouge State and Tal-Qaeda
The Chair of the Pacific Islands Forum announced on the 2nd of May that the "military regime" of Fiji had been suspended from the Forum.

There has however been a continued misunderstanding by the mainstream media as to the subject of this suspension for over two months now, both locally and internationally, that can be attributed to the official deliberate misleading statement by our illegal Attorney General stating that "Fiji" was suspended from the Forum. This is certainly NOT the case.

The suspension is applicable ONLY to the "military regime", its leader Frank Bainimarama and his illegal Ministers and Officials.

The Prerogative of Mercy
Section 115 of the Constitution empowers the President to grant to a convicted person, a state pardon either conditionally or otherwise, or grant a respite of the execution of punishment imposed, or substitute a less severe punishment.

The President is advised on the exercise of this power by the Commission on the Prerogative of Mercy. Membership of the Commission consists of the Attorney General as the Chairperson, and two members appointed by the President.

The Commission meets on a regular basis to consider applications for the exercise of the prerogative of mercy.
