Angry Drill Bit Broke in Tooth

My husband went to a dentist and was getting a root canal done, the dentist them informed my husband that the drill bit broke in his tooth. He then put a temporary cover over it and told him to go to another type of dentist to get it taken out. That dentist was closed so he had to wait over a weekend for the first dentist to call us. On Monday i called the dentist and they told me that i would have to make the appointment. Fine i called but since they were not on our insurance we would have to pay them too. So I called around and found a dentist that is on our insurance and that would do it. But now we have to wait 2 and a half weeks. We had already paid a co-payment to the first dentist for some other dental work that needed to be done. My husband was so fed up with them (the first dentist) that he told me to call them and tell them we wanted a refund of our $240 and his records. I called and they told me I needed to call my bank and stop payment, but since its a debit card they cannot stop payment. I called the dentist back and she said that they would give me my money back minus the charge from their bank. What can i do to get my money back in full, or should i just suck it up and take what they offer.

You could sue them in small claims if you wish.

Question Re: Drill Bit Broke in Tooth

This happened to me, too, except the dentist who broke the drill bit off in the root of my tooth didn't tell me!!! I found out this week when I went to a new dentist to get the "temporary" filling replaced & finish the root canal. The bit has been in the root of my tooth for months (unbeknownst to me), but I was so tramatized by the pain the first time around that it took me that long to get back to finish the job. (It's not finished yet, as I may loose the tooth due to the "stuck" drill bit deep in the root)
Is breaking a drill bit off in the tooth and getting it stuck something that is common? Please shed some light on it if you can!
THANK YOU in advance!
